My office is a safe and judgment free space where my clients can talk openly about the challenges they face. I utilize a holistic therapeutic approach which explores my client’s whole self. This includes their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social being. Participating in therapy does not remove or eliminate life's challenges; however, it can help clients learn strategies and coping mechanisms to deal with them. I concentrate on my client’s strengths, using CBT, as well as other treatment modalities.

I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. I've worked as a Certified School Psychologist for the NYC Public School System for the past 16 years, while attaining two Master Degrees and one Professional Diploma. I have a vast amount of experience working with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

In addition, I am a National Anger Management Specialist Level 2 and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).

Life's complexities can pose challenges, yet within them, hope persists. As a clinician, my role isn't that of an expert, but of a collaborative partner walking alongside you.

Let's have an open conversation about your life, your obstacles, and your values. This space is judgment-free, giving you the freedom to be your authentic self. My specialization is focused on assisting children, adolescents, and young adults. My experience with the New York City Department of Education has furnished me with a comprehensive understanding of the special education landscape. *Life on the Spectrum - Coaching for Parents*

As a certified life coach and educator with a doctorate in education and a master’s inspecial education, I bring over two decades of experience to my coaching practice. My journey began as a dedicated teacher in daycare settings, where I spent 20 years nurturing young minds, specifically focusing on children on the autism spectrum. Transitioning into public school teaching, I continued to specialize in supporting students on the spectrum, ensuring they received tailored education and support. Alongside my teaching career, I am also the proud owner of a sensory playtime business, where I have created enriching environments that foster sensory exploration and developmental growth for children of all abilities.

My commitment extends beyond the classroom and business ownership; I am passionate about empowering parents with the knowledge, tools, and strategies they need to navigate the complexities of raising children on the spectrum.

Through personalized coaching, I aim to foster confidence, resilience, and a positive mindset in parents, helping them create harmonious and supportive environments at home. I am dedicated to helping parents with realistic strategies, and guidance to help navigate school-related concerns, major decisions, and steps in their journey.

Imagine a healing fountain, built in a way that the water is easy for you to access. As the water flows out of the sculpture, a basin at the bottom captures all your worries, fears, and sorrows. For one frustrated little girl, living in a dark and silent world, disabled by blindness and deafness, the essence of water flowing over her hand, as her teacher helped her connect the word w-a-t-e- r with the sensation, awakened her soul- giving it light, hope, and joy.

From the words of that little girl named Hellen Keller, who became a transcendent icon of disability, “Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all.”  Reminding us that a journey through darkness has the power to help us rethink and reshape the outcome of our lives through the pursuit of clarity, awareness, and reflection.

Therefore, my goal as your therapist is to help you find and utilize your inner light (strengths) as we navigate through your journey towards restoration.  Together we will create a safe and supportive space for you to explore the internal/external factors serving as a roadblock towards your wellness. And while therapy can feel intimidating and overwhelming, your presence heretoday is testament to your courage in deepening your awareness and wisdom.  So, I invite you to take this moment to commend yourself for taking the first step on this path to healing.

“The past does not define you and your future is unwritten. Be proud of who you are in the moment.” —Paola Merrill

This quote is meaningful to me because I have had to overcome my fears and learn to be proud of who I am in the moment.  I try to convey that philosophy through my counseling interventions with my clients.  I am in partnership with my clients in using their strengths to build their self-confidence and identifying their weaknesses to work on in their self-improvement plan.

I bring a unique combination of experience and education to be a mentor to others and help them overcome obstacles to lead a fulfilling life, learning to value themselves and practice self-care to enhance self-esteem and be successful advocates for themselves to achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams.  I am grateful for people in my life who inspired me to follow my heart and attain educational plateaus to become a positive role model for others. I had to overcome my own fear of change and going back to school late in life to strive for an advanced degree not only as a personal and professional achievement, but also to have a greater impact in making a difference in the lives of others.

The uniqueness of the therapy I provide combines my knowledge of psychotherapy, treatment models of CBT and other treatment modalities along with nutrition and holistic health enhancement such as mindfulness and positive thinking to promote overall well-being with relaxation techniques and natural remedies in advocating for life changing personal practices that will improve overall health as all our parts are intertwined and having sickness in one part affects the whole.

My motivation derives from the desire to be the change I want to see in mental health care for people of color. My passion lies in helping others improve the overall quality of their life through counseling. Healing is an ongoing, non-linear, and challenging process that no one should have to do alone. My goal is to provide support by fostering a non-judgmental space for my clients and I to embark on their healing journey together.

I earned my bachelors in psychology and my masters in mental health counseling from the University at Buffalo. Throughout my academic career I discovered the growing need for mental health advocacy in communities of color. Throughout my journey as an LMHC, I intend on continuing to advocate for my clients while working with them to pursue their therapy goals. I aim to empower my clients by assisting them in using the tools that are already within them to heal.

As a native New Yorker I understand how a fast-paced life can affect one's mental health. Meeting the expectations of self and others can cause anxiety, stress, and depression. I know what it means to experience trauma and in that moment not recognize the impact it can have on you later.

I chose this profession because of personal experiences and not having anywhere to turn too. When I finally discovered where to seek help I didn’t find people who looked like me and shared my experiences of the world. My goal as a therapist is to be a safe space for people to discover and explore self. My belief is that inside of us, we have everything we need to be our best selves. Sometimes we just need to be given the tools to bring it out.

I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, and males from diverse backgrounds. The goal is to empower individuals and give them the necessary tools to navigate life's challenges. Through using CBT I will collaborate with individuals and work to address unmet needs or goals they may have. Ultimately, my goal is to assist and encourage anyone I work with to develop skills they can utilize moving forward and onward with their lives.
